Welcome to the Game Development section of the SANFL website.

The SANFL Game Development department comprises over 30 full time staff, spread all across South Australia from Mt Gambier to the Eyre Peninsula and as far north as the APY Lands.

Put simply, the main objective of Game Development is to get as many people playing this fantastic game as possible. We do this by offering football programs of all different types, catering for people of all ages and skill levels. From the year any child (boy or girl) turns five, they can become involved with the game of Australian Rules football. For the youngest group, NAB AFL Auskick is the best place to get started and from there, either school based teams or local club teams allow people everywhere to have a kick and a catch. There is more information about all these programs available at the links to the left, and also on the individual leagues’ and clubs’ websites.

There are also programs specifically aimed at emerging markets; like women and girls, multicultural groups, disadvantaged youth and people with disabilities.

More specific information about these programs can be found in the Inclusive Football area.

Click the Aboriginal football link in the left menu to see more information about specific programs conducted in Aboriginal communities on the APY Lands.

In this section there is also information about all SANFL Game Development links with Aboriginal schools and communities.

Game Development also hopes to create the safest and best quality environments for all football participants by educating and training coaches.

National Coaching Accreditation (Level 1 and 2) is available to coaches through courses run every year in conjunction with the nine SANFL League clubs. More information on coaching, coach education and child safe environment policies can be found via the links on the left.

Last but not least, Game Development also encompasses the Talented Player Pathway, by working with SANFL clubs to provide the best environment to develop talented youth footballers into tomorrow’s AFL and SANFL stars.

Through significant investment the SANFL has established a Centre of Excellence at each SANFL club, with programs developing year in and year out to find and nurture talented players from across South Australia. For more information about talent programs and the pathway see the link on the left.

Please see the individual areas in the menu on the left, or feel free to send us an enquiry at gamedevelopment@sanfl.com.au
