    Primary School Programs

    NAB AFL Auskick
The NAB AFL Auskick program has been developed to introduce and then build on the skills that form the foundation for playing Australian football. The program is designed to for kids from five years and up to learn the basics of the game without the unnecessary pressures related to winning or losing.

It is a skills-based program with no bumping/tackling or other contact normally experienced in game situations, so the participants can focus on their primary objective of improving their skills.

Establishing an AFL Auskick Centre in a Primary School has also proven to be a great way of starting a football community within the school. The participants learn the skills of the game during a couple of seasons of Auskick then progress on to become players in the Year 2/3 school football team.

    Crows in Schools
The Adelaide Football Club has had a strong presence in primary schools through the Crows in Schools presentation and clinic program which have been run in conjunction with the SANFL and SANFL League clubs.

    Planet Teal
The Port Adelaide Football club has expanded its Primary school clinic program in 2007, utilizing past Power greats Roger James and Josh Francou to visit schools and deliver clinics with assistance from the SANFL and SANFL League clubs.

    SANFL McDonald's Club Clinics
Your local SANFL club is always keen to come out to schools and introduce kids to the game of Australian Rules, or help those who already know the game to brush up on their skills.

There is an SANFL Development Coordinator working in each of the nine metropolitan club zones, as well as five regional coordinators. They can be contacted to come to your school and run anything from a “one-off” promotional clinic to six-clinic series to give the students a real taste of some of the skills of the game.

Contact your local SANFL Development Coordinator to arrange a clinic at your school.

    Multicultural Programs
The multicultural development program runs for 6 weeks. It involves 4 classes (preferably years 5 and 6) coming out and having a 45 minute session each. The first 5 weekly sessions target different and important parts of AFL football, with the 6th week being the graduation.

The graduation will be done in a school hall or basketball gym, and run for approximately 45 minutes. Certificates and a show bag will be handed out to each child at the graduation.

    Secondary School Program

    AFL 9s

AFL 9s is a modified game that has been designed to make Australian Rules football a more accessible game to all.

The rules of the normal game have been altered and some new rules added to create a game ideally suited for a social, non-contact competition or event. It can be played in single sex or mixed teams, and accommodates players of all skill levels.

The game is suitable for secondary physical education groups, and using competitions and/or carnivals, can also provide experience in the areas of sports administration and event management.

AFL 9s information and equipment is available through the SANFL, please contact your local SANFL Development Coordinator.
