Auskick Rookie
The NAB AFL Auskick program has been developed to introduce and then build on the skills that form the foundation for playing Australian football. The program is designed to for kids from five years and up to learn the basics of the game without the unnecessary pressures related to winning or losing.
It is a skills-based program with no bumping/tackling or other contact normally experienced in game situations, so the participants can focus on their primary objective of improving their skills. Establishing an AFL Auskick Centre in a Primary School has also proven to be a great way of starting a football community within the school. The participants learn the skills of the game during a couple of seasons of Auskick then progress on to become players in the Year 2/3 school football team.
