    PoweradeThe Powerade Star Search Award recognises the talented youngsters making their mark in League ranks.

    To be eligible for the award, nominees are required to be aged 21 or under at January 1, 2011 and to have played no more than eight State League games at the start of the 2011 season. AFL rookies are eligible for the award unless promoted to the senior list of their AFL club.

    Players who are suspended by the Tribunal in 2011 are ineligible for the award. The 2011 Powerade Star Search Award winner receives a $2000 cash prize.

     Luke Brown (Norwood)


    Luke debuted at League level on Saturday, April 2, against the Magpies. The 18 year old started in a back pocket before having a run on the wing in the second half and later moving in midfield. 

    Luke kicked Norwood's winning goal with a 50m kick on the run, moments into time on. He had 19 disposals (11 kicks and eight handballs), four tackles and three marks throughout the match.

    Peter Persinos (Norwood)

    Peter played in the forward pocket for his second League match for Norwood on Friday, April 8.
     
    The 17 year old kicked two goals, two behinds and two out on the full in a match where he also tallied 15 kicks, six handballs, one mark and three tackles. 

    As a small elusive forward, Peter was very dangerous when the ball was inside 50. 

    Judges praised his speed and smarts showcased during the Redlegs' resounding win over the Double Blues.

     Chad Wingard (Sturt)

    Originating from the Imperials Football Club in Murray Bridge and a current member of the State U18s Squad, Chad played his third League game on Friday (April 15) against the Eagles.
     
    He kicked two goals in the Double Blues' convincing win and tallied 13 kicks, seven handballs and five marks.

    Jarrod Schiller (Central District)

    Jarrod Schiller (Central)
    Jarrod was responsible for tagging senior Norwood player Nathan Eagleton in Central’s Anzac Day victory at Adelaide Oval on Monday, April 25. 

    While he kept Eagleton to 13 possessions, he tallied 18 disposals (eight kicks and 10 handballs), laid five tackles and was creative coming out of defence. 

    Judges said Jarrod’s tough approach at the ball was a game highlight.

    Daniel Kulikowski (Port Adelaide)Daniel Kulikowski

    Daniel played a strong midfield role in Port’s match against the Panthers last week, recording six kicks, two handballs, five marks, two clearances and three tackles. 

    He was previously shortlisted for a Powerade Star Search nomination in Round 3 where, in his debut League match, he was a standout in contested ball wins, work rate and intensity. 

    The 18 year old midfielder originates from Port District Football Club.

    Drew Clayfield (Glenelg)

    Drew ClayfieldDrew Clayfield from Glenelg Football Club is Round 6’s Powerade Star Search Award winner. He had a terrific game down back in this week’s match against North Adelaide, finishing the game with 11 kicks, four handballs and five marks. 

    Judges highlighted Drew’s ability to read the game and his efficient ball use and poise. Drew was previously nominated for a Powerade Star Search Award in Round 2.

    Chris CurrenChris Curran (Glenelg)

    Chris read the game well on the weekend, repelling many West Adelaide attacks with telling marks and using the ball well to Glenelg’s advantage. 

    The 20 year old collected 13 kicks, 5 marks and 5 handballs and received three free kicks.

    Ben KennedyBen Kennedy (Glenelg Football Club)

    Ben capped off a matchwinning performance last Friday to take out this week’s Powerade Star Search Award.

    Ben produced a standout game against Sturt at Adelaide Oval in what was only his seventh League appearance.

    He finished the game with 18 kicks, eight handballs, five marks and four valuable goals. Judges praised his pace and depth of kicking.

    Justin Hoskin (Port Adelaide) 

    Justin played at half back and was voted best on ground by coaching staff in the Magpies’ match against the Panthers on the weekend. 

    He finished the match with 17 kicks, nine handballs, 10 handball receives, seven marks and four tackles. 

    Judges said Justin’s ability to read the play and be in the right spot at the right time was very impressive.

    David Haydon (Central District)

    David’s debut League match against Norwood on the weekend has earned him the Round 10 Powerade Star Search Award. 

    David worked hard all day, swapping between the half back flank and wing. He finished the game with eight kicks, 10 handballs, two marks and five tackles. 

    Judges said he showed a lot of composure for an 18 year old player in his first League appearance.

    Ben HansenBen Hansen (Sturt)

    Ben was impressive under pressure in his debut League match for the Double Blues against the Bloods on the weekend. 

    He amassed 15 kicks, seven handballs, five marks and 15 rebound 50s.

    Jacob TempletonJacob Templeton (Central) 

    Jacob Templeton made his League debut in Round 12 against Glenelg. 

    The 21-year-old defender read the game well and had a solid performance playing on a senior opponent, Ruory Kirkby. He tallied 13 possessions for the match and used the ball well.

    Johnny Boras (North)

    Johnny Boras of North Adelaide Football Club is the Round 13 Powerade Star Search Winner. The 20 year old was outstanding in his only third league match and first for 2011, showing great skills in both leading and marking.

    He finished the day with 10 kicks, 10 marks, three handballs and was an accurate scorer booting 8 goals straight. In addition, he was a great team player assisting with three goals

    Sam Pfeiffer (Sturt)

    Sam Pfeiffer of Sturt Football Club is this week’s Powerade Star Search. After playing junior football for Murray Bridge Football Club, Sam made his debut on Sunday and was exceptional down back. 

    With great decision making skills, Sam notched up six kicks, eight handballs, five marks and three tackles in the match against North.

    Dylan Reinbrecht (Norwood)

    This week’s Powerade Star Search winner is 19 year old Dylan Reinbrecht of the Norwood Football Club. 

    In this fourth league match, Dylan featured in the midfield and gained plenty of the ball with 19 kicks, 2 handballs and 4 marks. He was hard at the body laying 7 tackles and applying pressure on the ball.

    Chris Bonney (West)

    Chris Bonney of West Adelaide Football Club is this week’s Powerade Star Search winner, acknowledged for his solid work rate and ability to continually force a contest. 

    The 19 year old from Barmera Monash Football Club has had a strong year in the Reserves this season. 

    In his League debut against Centrals at Playford Alive Oval last weekend, his versatility was his strength as he played a somewhat unfamiliar role at centre half forward and finished with seven kicks, seven handballs, five marks and one goal.

    Lachie Neale (Glenelg)



    Lachie Neale had a fantastic match for Glenelg in his league debut and contributed to the 14point victory over Port Adelaide on the weekend. 

    Lachie showed excellent skills under pressure and finished the match with 15 disposals, 3 tackles, 3 clearances and 2 goals. 

    The 18 year old was also the winner of the Round 1 Macca’s MVP award, and a member of the U18 state team.

    Josh Allen (Norwood)



    Josh Allen playing in his fourth league game for Norwood has won this week’s Powerade Star Search award. 

    Playing off the half back line, Josh had 11 kicks and 9 handballs. He was able to read the play and his excellent overhead skills, resulted in 7 marks . 

    Josh is an example of some great talent coming through the U18 competition, captaining the Norwood U18 side in 2010 and making his league debut in Round 13 against Sturt this year.

    Josh Trembath (Glenelg) 



    Glenelg’s Josh Trembath has been named this week’s Powerade Star Search winner. 

    Playing as a key forward in just his seventh League match for the Bays, the 20 year old gathered 10 possessions including six kicks, four handballs, five marks and three tackles. 

    The highlight of Josh’s performance was his accurate goal kicking with his four goals helping secure a crucial 13 point victory that keeps the Tigers in the race for a top three finish.

    Travis Lane (Eagles)



    Travis Lane of Woodville-West Torrens Football Club is this week’s Powerade Star Search winner. Lane had 11 kicks, two handballs and seven marks in the Eagles' thumping 107-point win over the Tigers on the weekend. 

    He played a key role as a small forward with excellent skills and composure, resulting in four goals for the game. His ability to crumb at the feet of Grocke and Staple was another highlight of his game.

    Lewis Hender (Glenelg)



    Lewis Hender from the Glenelg Football Club is this week’s Powerade Star Search winner. 

    In only his fifth league game, the 17 year old proved his role as a prominent and exciting forward. 

    This was also recognised by The Advertiser, being named second best on ground in the match against West Adelaide. 

    Lewis finished the game with 10 kicks, 2 marks, 2 handballs, 3 tackles and kicked 3 really important goals.

    Damian Hynes (Central)



    Damian played at full forward and centre half forward in his 5th League Game on Saturday against Norwood.
     
    He finished the match with four straight goals, seven kicks, six marks, four handballs and one tackle. 

    Judges said Damian handled the pressure of a big game well, he presented strongly and gave a strong contest.

    Jimmy Toumpas (Eagles)



    Jimmy finished the game against Port Adelaide on Saturday with 14 kicks, five handballs, eight marks and one goal. Playing on the wing in his 2nd League game, his work rate and ball use were the feature of his game.
