2012 Powerade Star Search
The Powerade Star Search Award recognises the talented youngsters making their mark in League ranks.
To be eligible for the award, nominees are required to be aged 21 or under at January 1, 2012 and to have played no more than eight State League games at the start of the 2011 season. AFL rookies are eligible for the award unless promoted to the senior list of their AFL club.
Players who are suspended by the Tribunal in 2012 are ineligible for the award. The 2012 Powerade Star Search Award winner receives a $2000 cash prize.

Todd McKay (Panthers)
In the Panthers’ loss to West, finished the match with 11 kicks, two marks and two handballs as part of South’s midfield rotation.
The 18 year old’s contested possessions and defensive pressure were a highlight in what was his seventh League match.
From Noarlunga, McKay made his League debut as a 16 year old in 2010 and was an Under 18 State representative in 2011.

Craig Pitt (Glenelg)
Glenelg’s Craig Pitt has been nominated for the Round 2 Powerade Star Search Award.
Craig excelled across half back in his first senior game, gathering 14 kicks, five handballs and laying three effective tackles.
Judges noted his ability to show poise when in possession of the ball and his sound decisionmaking.

James played in his second league game on Saturday against the Eagles.
James played on a wing collecting 12 kicks, 13 HB’s, 6 marks, 3 tackles & 2 goals.
James is 16 years of age (8/11/95, 181cm, 68kg) is the son of former player Andrew Aish & nephew of 1981 Magarey medal Michael Aish.

On his debut game Rory really took the game on with his hard running, attacking game.
His skill level was excellent highlighted by 6 high quality inside 50 kicks, whilst playing a number of roles which highlighted Rory’s versatility.”

Ben Hansen: Ben played well from a back pocket.
He displayed composure under pressure and was efficient with his ball use.
He collected 19 kicks, 6 handballs and 12 Rebound from 50m. |

Warrick McGinty (Glenelg)
Instrumental in the Ruck being credited with 19 hit outs. His strength being the highlight.
He finished the game with 12 kicks, 8 Handballs , 6 Marks and 3 Tackles.
A great all round game for a Ruckman.

Jimmy Toumpas (Eagles)
Jimmy played on a wing and had 9 kicks and 4 handballs including 4 Inside 50’s and 2 goals.
His work rate and use of the ball were a feature. |

Troy Menzel (Central)
He was sharp and creative in his role on the wing. He then went forward and marked well and finished well kicking 4 goals when up forward.
His pressure on the opposition was excellent in close and in the forward 50
