New traffic management arrangements around AAMI Stadium have passed their first major test with flying colours, SANFL Stadium Manager Sharon Stephens says.

Despite an impressive 40,418-strong crowd attending last Saturday’s Crows clash against the Cats, the roads around West Lakes were clear within 40 minutes after the final siren.

The improved traffic flow was due to Brebner Drv being transformed into a three-lane thoroughfare after the match, as well as the last 100m of Sportsmans Drv becoming a dual-lane road to cope with the increased number of motorists.

“It was very encouraging to see the traffic initiatives worked well – especially for a match that only narrowly missed being the most popularly-attended AFL game over the weekend,” Ms Stephens said.

“Together with the successful operation of the SA Lotteries Footy Express, we expect patrons will be able to enjoy faster and more convenient access to and from AAMI Stadium now that these traffic arrangements are in place.”
