WEST ADELAIDE ANNOUNCE NEW COACH
After a thorough national search and recruitment campaign, the West Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce that Andrew Collins has been appointed as the full-time Senior Coach for the next three years.Andrew had a distinguished playing career with the Hawthorn Football Club - 212 games and three day premierships. In addition to this, he is Hawthorn s consecutive games record holder (189 games), has played in three night premierships, made 11 state of origin appearances and is a club champion and all Australian. Since his retirement, Andrew has established himself as a successful VFL coach with Sandringham, Box Hill and Coburg. He coached Sandringham to a premiership, Box Hill to consecutive finals appearances and last week took Coburg s senior and reserves teams into a Grand Final. Further to this, he has been an assistant AFL Coach with the St Kilda Football Club and was last week named 2007 VFL Coach of the Year. Professionally, Andrew holds a Diploma of Teaching, Bachelor of Education and a Graduate Diploma in Psychology. In addition to his current football coaching commitments, Andrew is currently the high performance development manager for Cricket Victoria. Andrew will be presented to the members and sponsors of the West Adelaide Football Club in the main bar on Friday 28 September at 6.00pm. Congratulations to the board of the WAFC and the coaching recruitment sub-committee which included club legend Grantley Fielke for their input and the high level of professionalism they have demonstrated throughout the recruitment process.
