DOG'S RETURN PUT ON DELAY

Central District premiership player Charles Slattery has had his comeback from a knee injury delayed after being forced to undergo further surgery. Slattery, who suffered posterior cruciate damage against Glenelg in round six, was expected to have been back in action last month. But the former West Adelaide onballer will not return for at least another four weeks following surgery last week to repair cartilage damage.

It is another setback for the Bulldogs, who have struggled to find their premiership-winning form from last season.

Fellow Bulldogs midfielder Chris Gowans has been listed as still having another three weeks on the sidelines before he can resume from a knee injury similar to Slattery's.

Experienced Woodville-West Torrens campaigner Justin Cicolella wants to stretch his career for another few years.

Despite being hampered by injury this season, the veteran believes his body can withstand another few seasons in the SANFL.

Cicolella, 29, said he was fit and keen to add to his 185 league games at Woodville Oval.

"I've been doing plenty of work with swimming and weights and I'm not unfit," he said. "I've never had a lot of injuries - I'm getting my share now."

Cicolella had a delayed start to his season after having a groin operation in December. He returned for two games in reserves and three in the league side before being sidelined with a thigh strain.

The Eagles, beaten by the Port Adelaide Magpies on Saturday, have the bye this weekend before facing North Adelaide at Prospect.

Cicolella will be available for selection.
