GINEVER REBUILDING FORTRESS

PORT Adelaide coach Tim Ginever has made his intentions clear. He wants to reclaim Alberton.

The Magpies have now won back-to-back games at home and Ginever said confidence was slowly creeping back into the changerooms of the black and white. In round 12 Port defeated West by 36 points and on Saturday narrowly beat North Adelaide by four points.

However, these two wins are not just worth two premiership points each. They could be the start of a much-needed revolution for the club in 2008.

"We give ourselves a chance to resurrect it," Ginever said.

"We knew it was still early enough to turn it around, part of it was turning Alberton around, protecting our home.

"It took a courageous effort to do it (on Saturday) and it'll take a similar effort to do it next week against the Eagles."

After the gratifying win against North, Ginever said it was easy for teams to "win while they're flying". That has not been the case for Port for three years and the team has had to work extremely hard for each and every break it gets.

"I'd like to get into that situation where we're flying but you know that these are hard efforts, you're digging deep to get up and win them," he said.

"We're excited about what can happen if we keep this sort of behaviour up."

One thing working in Ginever's favour is the gradual return of his list. Injury has hit the club hard this year but now five players - Tom Carr, Justin Perkins, Shayne Biacsi, Steven Eichner and Luke Saunders - are working their way back into the league side through the reserves.
