2008 SANFL MATCH PROGRAM ANNOUNCED
The 2008 SANFL Match Program has been developed to provide an exciting mix of matches and fixture times to continue the recent trends of attendance growth and interest in SANFL Football.
According to the SANFL’s General Manager, State League Competition, Glen Rosser “the 2008 program balances most of the programming requests put forward by the SANFL clubs and incorporates a number of recommendations made by the SANFL Marketing & Match Program sub-committee. The program was developed through a consultative, collaborative process with the clubs and we are confident that the end result will allow us to further build on the 322,835 spectators and 1,415,000 television viewers who supported SANFL Football in 2007. With nine night matches, seventeen Sunday matches and four public holiday matches our fans will have a range of viewing options available to them”.

Opening Round
• Friday Night 28th March Norwood v Sturt – Coopers Stadium
• Saturday Afternoon 29th March North Adelaide v Eagles – Prospect Oval
• Saturday Night 29th March Central District v Port Adelaide Magpies – Hamra Homes Oval
• Sunday 30th March South Adelaide v Glenelg – Hickinbotham Oval
Other Key Rounds
• Round 5 Anzac Weekend 25th and 26th April
o Anzac Day (Friday) – Central District v North Adelaide – Hamra Homes Oval
o Anzac Night (Friday Night) – Norwood v South Adelaide – Coopers Stadium
o Saturday Afternoon – Sturt v Glenelg
o Saturday Afternoon – West Adelaide v Eagles – to celebrate 50th year of Richmond Oval to the day when West Adelaide played West Torrens
• Round 7 - Rivalry Round (150 Year Celebration of Australian Football)
• Round 10 – District Footy Round
• Round 13 – AFL Free Weekend in Adelaide
• Round 16 – Starlight Foundation Charity Round
• Adelaide Oval is unavailable in 2008 due to redevelopment, therefore the Clubs have all been rostered 10 Home and 10 Away Games
• 2 Matches on June Holiday Monday Queen’s Birthday
o Glenelg v Port Adelaide Magpies – Challenge Recruitment Oval
o Sturt v North Adelaide – Unley Oval
• Sturt to play South Adelaide in River Murray Football League Round 15 on Sunday 13th July
• Eagles to play 2 matches at Thebarton Oval Round 6 Saturday 3rd May v Sturt and Round 17 Saturday 26th July v West Adelaide
• State Game SA v Victoria – Saturday afternoon 31st May at Coopers Stadium, Norwood
• One match must be played every Saturday afternoon to meet our obligations to ABC TV. This has meant programming matches directly against Crows playing at AAMI Stadium in SANFL Rounds 1, 4, 18 & 22 and against Port Adelaide matches at AAMI Stadium in Rounds 9, 13 and 21.
• Round 23, the final minor round, has been scheduled for Saturday 6th September, however some matches may be transferred due to AFL finals
• Match start times for day games, including ABC TV televised matches, will be 2pm
• The Program includes:
9 night matches (4 Norwood, 5 Central District)
17 Sunday matches and
4 holiday matches (2 Anzac Day, 2 Queen’s Birthday)
• The 2008 SANFL Grand Final will be played on Sunday 5th October - the Sunday following AFL Grand Final.
