  • SANFL Partners

The SANFL takes great pride in the strength of our association with our corporate partners. These relationships are essential to the long-term growth of Australian Rules football in this state. Without their support, the State League Competition and Game Development programs would not enjoy the success they do today.

    Lion Nathan Australia

The SANFL and Lion Nathan Australia (via the SA Brewing Company and the West End brand) partnership has spanned some 55 years.

As the League’s major partner, Lion Nathan is involved in a great breadth of SANFL events and activities, both as a sponsor and a supplier to the clubs and AAMI Stadium. Lion Nathan’s support of football is statewide, extending to the amateur and affiliated leagues throughout metropolitan and regional areas.

In 2009, Lion Nathan is celebrating 150 years of brewing West End Draught.

    AAMI

The League has been extremely fortunate to partner with AAMI over the past eight years as naming rights sponsor of the home of football in South Australia – AAMI Stadium. AAMI’s sponsorship has been crucial in the development of football in South Australia at all levels, but most notably in continued improvements to the Stadium. Major beneficiaries of AAMI’s support have included the one million South Australians who flock to AAMI Stadium every year and the children taking part in the junior development programs supported by AAMI.

An additional feature of AAMI’s sporting and community relationship with the SANFL has been the introduction of the first AAMI Skilled Drivers’ Program in South Australia near Max Basheer Reserve. Established in 1982, this nationally-recognised community program is designed for young drivers under 25 and is a demonstration of AAMI’s ongoing commitment to road safety. The program helps advance young drivers’ knowledge, experience, driving attitude and awareness of risks on the road. For further information on the AAMI Skilled Drivers’ Program, contact 13 22 44 or visit the AAMI website.

    Government of South Australia

The Government of South Australia through its Office for Recreation and Sport (ORS) supports a wide range of junior development programs, including the ‘be active’ Mini League, which directly contributes to increased participation levels and healthy active lifestyles for children. The ORS’s ‘be active’ message encourages all South Australians to take every opportunity to ‘be active’ and a popular initiative of this partnership is the ‘be active’ Kick and Catch at all SANFL and selected AFL matches. As naming rights partner, the State League Competition is known as the ‘be active’ League.

    Coca-Cola Amatil

Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) has been a long-standing partner of the SANFL and the League clubs for more than 40 years and continues to support the game at all levels from grassroots to the elite. Its current support extends to naming rights sponsorship of the U16 State Team and the Coca-Cola Star Search Award which recognises the talented youngsters making their mark in League ranks.

CCA believes that encouraging families to engage in regular physical activity is the key to reducing the growing obesity rate in Australia. Through their Active Factor promotion, CCA supports activity-based programs as a great way of bringing communities together, while instilling in children the advantages of staying fit and active for life. The Active Factor promotion has assisted in the provision of footballs for junior development programs delivered throughout the state.

    McDonaldsMcDonalds

Commencing in 2009, McDonald’s is partnering the League as the major sponsor of the SANFL junior development programs. In partnering these programs, McDonald’s aims to increase Aussie Rules participation, help teach new skills and encourage active lifestyles among young people.

In what was a significant step for the League last year, the underage structure was revised to comprise an elite U18 competition and condensed U16 competition. The inaugural U18 competition is known as the Macca’s Cup. McDonald’s support also extends to the Under 18 State Team, Under 16s, Under 12s and all other school footy competitions in the state.

For those just starting out in footy, Macca’s, through the SANFL, will be helping the development of kids’ skills through promotional clinics, holiday coaching clinics, intra-school programs, carnivals and secondary school football.

Macca’s is encouraging all kids to get involved with their local footy club, to have fun, be active and become footy stars of the future.

    SA Mazda Dealers

In February 2009, the League was delighted to announce a partnership with the South Australian Mazda Dealers. The partnership reinforces a continued association with Mazda, which commenced in 2005. The SA Mazda dealers have supplied ten new vehicles that enables the delivery of junior development programs to over 200,000 children in metropolitan and regional South Australia. Without these vehicles, the delivery of these programs would be in jeopardy given the cost of vehicle leasing.

The SA Mazda Dealers include the following dealerships:

Australian Motors (Goodwood Rd, Wayville and South Rd, Edwardstown)
    City Mazda (Port Rd, Hindmarsh)
Paradise Motors (Lower North East Rd, Paradise)
Reynella Mazda (Main South Rd, Reynella)

    Savings & Loans Credit Union

The SANFL’s partnership with Savings & Loans Credit Union began in 2001 and the League is delighted this support has continued into 2009. The Savings & Loans Family Friendly Areas are a key drawcard for attendances at SANFL games. These areas are made possible through the community-minded funding of Savings & Loans Credit Union. The Family Friendly Areas are free of smoking, coarse language and alcohol consumption and at many games, children enjoy activities such as face painting, colouring-in competitions, clowns, balloons in club colours and more. Family Friendly Areas are clearly marked at all SANFL grounds, and are ideal for families with children who want to make the most of their time watching local footy.

    SA Lotteries SA Lotteries

Since 1987, SA Lotteries has contributed more than $8 million to support and develop South Australia’s recreational and sporting facilities and services, with around 95 cents of every dollar spent on SA Lotteries’ games being returned to the community.

The SANFL has and continues to benefit from this support in a partnership that extends over 20 years. Over this time, SA Lotteries has partnered the League in the Magarey Medal presentation dinner, through the League’s website and in arena advertising around AAMI Stadium and on the superscreen.

More recently, SA Lotteries has teamed up with the SANFL, the State Government and the Adelaide and Port Adelaide Football Clubs to provide the SA Lotteries Footy Express – a free bus service for footy fans to and from AAMI Stadium with the cost included in the matchday ticket. Introduced in 2008, the service has proven extremely popular with more than 220,000 patrons utlising the service last season.
This year, SA Lotteries is partnering the League in the SA Lotteries Footy Tipping – the official 2009 SANFL & AFL competition.

    Balfours

Balfours has been a tremendous supporter of football in this state for many years. In 2009, its association spans the SANFL, AAMI Stadium, seven of nine SANFL League clubs and the Crows and Power. The sponsorship provided to the League enables the provision of junior development promotional products branding the joint association between the SANFL and Balfours. At the AFL level, the two matches played at AAMI Stadium between the Crows and Power every season are referred to as the Balfours Showdown.

    The Good Guys

The Good Guys have partnered the League for the past six seasons as the official supplier of electrical goods for the SANFL and AAMI Stadium. In more recent seasons, The Good Guys have sponsored The Good Guys Coach of the Year, an award presented to the most outstanding SANFL League coach as voted by their peers.
In 2009, The Good Guys will sponsor the SANFL Rivalry Round and assist in the promotion of the round through their stores. The Good Guys….“Pay Less Pay Cash” have four stores in Adelaide located at Edwardstown (Rob Bunn), Mile End (David Brooks), Noarlunga (Cathie Peters) and Pooraka (Jim Drivas).

    SA TAB

The League’s partnership with SA TAB began in 2002. Over the past five seasons, TAB has been the premier sponsor of the League’s umpires, with the objective of creating a strong association in the minds of the community and football participants with the TAB brand. The sponsorship support provided by TAB contributes greatly to securing the future of football and football umpires in this state.
