    On Sunday 19th September, invited representatives from all umpiring groups in South Australia converged on AAMI Stadium to join the AFL and SANFL in recognising and celebrating the efforts of Green Shirt umpires in the 2010 season.

    Steph Morrison has been appointed SA’s Umpire for the Inaugural Under 18s Youth Girls National Championships to be held in Melbourne in September 2010.

    During term 2, Jason Rivett Development Officer from the North Adelaide Football club conducted six week football programs in primary schools in the club’s zone.

    UMPIRING is almost always the main topic of chatter when the Button family discusses football at the end of each weekend. But the Paradise brood rarely whinges about how its beloved Port Adelaide was robbed by the men in orange.

    ONE Sunday, Corey Bowen was umpiring in front of a paltry SANFL crowd at windswept Noarlunga Oval.
    A week later, he could barely hear himself think amidst 50,000 screaming fans in the cauldron of the MCG.
    Bowen, who grew up in Para Hills, called his first AFL game, between Melbourne and Essendon, on Sunday, July 11.


    "A recent training night held at the Two Wells oval where 60 umpires attended was a resounding success", said Patrick Willis SANFL Umpiring Development Manager.

    Barossa Light & Gawler and the North Eastern Football league created history recently by having female field and boundary umpires at their games.

    The 2010 SAPSASA Football Carnival has again provided a great atmosphere to develop young umpiring talent after a strong crop of first-year umpires were given the opportunity to hone their skills across the week-long tournament.

    On April 17th and 18th, the KNTFL recently held an umpiring weekend in Naracoorte to continue the promotion of club umpiring.

    Northern Zone high schools in Port Pirie, Port Augusta and Whyalla were visited recently by 2 AFL umpires and the SANFL Umpiring Development team.
